Volunteers' Week 2019

Volunteers Week News Story

This week (1st - 7th June) is National Volunteers’ Week and this year the theme is ‘time to celebrate’, so it’s a great opportunity to say thank you to the people who give up their time to help causes right across the country and show them the difference they make.

Here at Tenovus Cancer Care, we want to thank each and every one of our volunteers for helping us to make a difference. Over 2,000 volunteers support us with our work and without people like them giving their time, skills and energy, we simply couldn’t do what we do.

A definition we like to use is “doing more than you have to, because you want to, for a good cause”. So to celebrate this week, we’re saying thank you to everyone who does more than they have to, because they want to help us.

From fundraising, helping in a charity shop and supporting us at events to offering advice out in community locations and guiding the charity as a trustee (and everything in between!), volunteering is so varied; there’s something for everyone!

So, all of this week we’ll be sharing stories and showing you some of the different ways people help us here at Tenovus Cancer Care (from shops to fundraising, to support services and research). Please keep an eye on our social media channels (Facebook, Instagram and Twitter) over the next few days as we celebrate the amazing ways our volunteers support us!

If you’d like to find out more about volunteering with us, please call us to chat with our Volunteer Team, Luisa and Rebecca, on 02920 768 331. Or, if you’d rather, you can email volunteer@tenovuscancercare.org.uk or visit our Volunteer with Us web pages for more information.
