Our Quit with Us campaign
More people in Wales die from lung cancer than any other cancer.
We can help you quit smoking. We’ll give you advice and tips on how to give up, and it’s all free. Your willpower, our support. We know it’s not easy, but we’re all behind you. The people that love you will thank you for it.
Every year we work with communities across Wales to help people to pack it in. We know that 70% of smokers want to quit, but many need some extra support to help them get started.
Where to get help
Nicotine in tobacco is a highly addictive drug, so no wonder people find it hard to quit and cope with the withdrawal symptoms. But there are lots of people that can help.
Family and friends
It can be easier to quit with someone else and you can support each other. Remember we’re all behind you!
You can manage your withdrawal symptoms by using Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) or medication. You can get this free when you join an NHS 'Stop Smoking' service. There are lots of products available to help, including patches, lozenges, inhalers, gum and tablets.
Using these services can increase your chances of quitting by more than four times.
Get in touch with:
Stop Smoking Wales (0800 085 2219)
Stop Smoking England (0300 123 1044)
They offer free local group support over six weekly appointments and provide advice on withdrawal symptoms, coping strategies, benefits of quitting and carbon monoxide monitoring.
Many pharmacies now have a trained pharmacist who can offer help. The support is similar to the Stop Smoking Service, and the pharmacist is able to give you products and support to help you quit.
Your GP can prescribe products to help you quit the habit and give you advice.
