The MoonWalk London
Saturday 15th May 2021
The MoonWalk London, organised by breast cancer charity Walk the Walk, is amongst the biggest and most spectacular fundraising nights of the year! Walkers wearing decorated bras take on marathon walking challenges through the capital’s famous centre.
However, 2021 brings you the first ever Virtual MoonWalk London and Walk the Walk is going ‘out of this world’ and into the future with their theme – the universe is your intergalactic oyster!
In Walk the Walk’s unique style, they intend to make this an exciting and unforgettable virtual challenge experience where you can really help to make a difference to the devastating impact that COVID-19 is having on those affected by cancer.
With four distances from 6.55 to 52.4 miles (and key Tenovus Cancer Care staff will be walking 26.2 miles in support for Walk The Walk!) there is something for everyone… which will you choose?
Thousands of walkers will be coming together in spirit across the country, and indeed the world, with one goal, Walking the Walk during the day in your very own local area. What an incredible experience to share… and a formidable sight to see!
Every mile you walk, and every penny you raise will make a difference!
Walk The Walk & Tenovus Cancer Care
Tenovus Cancer Care and Walk the Walk seek to serve breast cancer patients with advanced treatment and support in their community. Walk the Walk’s breath-taking headline grants, approaching a remarkable £1 million, helped to turn our second and third Mobile Support Units into a wonderful, state-of-the-art reality. In Wales, this means that hundreds of people affected by breast cancer, and those with lymphoedema post treatment, can access the care they need closer to home.
Walk the Walk, founded by Nina Barough CBE, started when she and a group of friends power walked the New York Marathon in 1996 in a bra to raise money for breast cancer causes. From this developed the idea for the MoonWalks (London, Scotland and now Iceland) and with it Walk the Walk, the largest grant-making breast cancer charity in the UK. They have raised in excess of £134 million so far for life-changing breast cancer causes.
