The MoonWalk London
Saturday 16th May 2020, London
Come join breast cancer charity Walk the Walk, friends and partners of Tenovus Cancer Care, and propel yourself into the future by signing up for The MoonWalk London 2020.
On Saturday, May 16th, thousands of women and men will walk a Full Moon (26.2 miles) or a Half Moon Plus (15.1 miles) through the capital’s famous centre, and experience an unforgettable night raising money essential to advancing care for women (and men!) affected by breast cancer.
Tenovus Cancer Care and Walk the Walk share a vision of reaching breast cancer patients with advanced treatment and support closer to home. Thanks in no small part to Walk the Walk’s headline grants for our second and third Mobile Support Units (£200,000 and £500,000 respectively), people in Wales with breast cancer, or who develop lymphoedema following treatment for it, can access care at the heart of their community on board our welcoming, state-of-the-art mobile treatment facilities, from Cwmbran to Aberystwyth.
Walk the Walk, the brainchild of Nina Barough, CBE, started when she and a group of friends power walked the New York Marathon in 1996 in a bra to raise money for breast cancer causes. From this developed the idea for the MoonWalks (London, Edinburgh and now Iceland) and with it Walk the Walk, the largest grant-making breast cancer charity in the UK. They have raised over £133 million so far for life-changing breast cancer causes.
The MoonWalk London 2020 will be the 23rd incarnation of one the most memorable nights of the year that has a life-changing impact for people facing a cancer diagnosis. With a futuristic ‘Out of this World’ theme, walkers will don decorated bras in celebration of the new era – expect robots, spaceships, cyborgs and all things extraordinary!
