Meet Chloe, our Events Intern

My name’s Chloe and I’m an Event Management Student at the University of South Wales.

I joined Tenovus Cancer Care on a 10-week full-time internship in 2017 with the Events Team. I was involved with the annual ball, as well as a number of fundraising events like their Dragon Drop Abseil and Breast Cancer Awareness Month Ladies Lunch.

I got involved through university as I wanted to improve my employability skills and develop my knowledge of the events industry. I got involved with Tenovus Cancer Care to gain an insight into the charity sector and because of the supportive and friendly atmosphere, in addition to the amazing work they do to support cancer patients and their loved ones.

I enjoyed working with a great team, getting involved with a variety of tasks and learning the processes, systems and daily tasks involved with organising events!

To anyone thinking of doing an internship with Tenovus Cancer Care I’d say go for it! I was unsure if it was the best option at the time, but it has been really beneficial to me as I have been given opportunities to develop my skills and knowledge. I feel that my experience will be beneficial to my studies.

Meet Eleri, our Events Fundraising Manager

Hi, I’m Eleri and I’m Tenovus Cancer Care’s Events Fundraising Manager. Chloe came to our team to help out with our events. She supported us with our annual Gala Ball, which is one of the biggest fundraising events of the year for our team. She also contacted people to get auction prizes, helped with planning the event and supported our team at the event itself.

It was great to work with a student who came with new creative ideas and a different perspective. I also learnt a lot about managing people as well as delegating.

Chloe learnt a lot about the work we do which means she's able to talk knowledgeably about the charity, which will help raise awareness when she talks to other students.

I was so impressed by Chloe’s commitment, she worked really hard to get everything in place for the Ball. It was great knowing that with Chloe’s help we were ahead of schedule and we felt confident and ready for the event. It allowed us to do some of our dream things, that we don’t always have time to do but which really boost the event.

Chloe stayed all day and all of the night of the Ball, she didn’t want to take a break as she wanted to be part of the whole thing!
