Creative Award nominations
Jan is the Finance Treasurer of the Bridgend Friends of Tenovus Cancer Care Group and a member of her local Sing with Us choir.
Jan spends hours making beautiful handmade cards to sell at local community events, the hospital and choir practice, and making sure that the charity is promoted in the community. She makes cards to order and may well be up half the night ensuring her orders are met. She never lets anyone down and raises over £1,000 a year!
Jan’s vocation in life was nursing and she’s brought the same compassion, professionalism and pride she gave to her job, to her volunteer role. She’s always there with a welcoming smile, a hug for those who need one, an ear that listens and a calm voice of reassurance and support. She’s a bucket-shaker, card maker, high-note hitter and a loyal friend to Tenovus Cancer Care.
Janeda has been a member of Swansea Sing with Us choir since 2015 and wanted to do something special to mark the charity’s 75th Birthday. She teamed up with Anna Gabrieli to develop angel key rings to sell.
The beautiful key rings have gone down a storm at fundraising groups and various events, raising awareness and hundreds of pounds for Tenovus Cancer Care.
For those who have purchased a key ring, they provide hope close at hand and a little reminder that they are supporting cancer patients and their families in the heart of the community.
Janeda has a busy life outside of choir with family commitments, but has still found time to fundraise for Tenovus Cancer Care with this incredibly creative project.
Stella uses her creative skills to support Tenovus Cancer Care whilst honouring the memory of her mother.
Stella appreciates how Tenovus Cancer Care could have helped her family and wants to help others in a similar position.
For five years Stella has held an annual afternoon tea fundraiser. She’s an excellent cook and makes delicious cakes, especially her home-made scones served with strawberry jam! The event is one of the Llandudno Sing with Us Choir’s favourite gigs because it’s so relaxed and happy, Stella is so welcoming, and the food is so delicious.
Stella also organises other events throughout the year, with the constant support of her husband Keith and dearest friend Veronica to help raise funds. The most recent being a Halloween themed cheese and wine party, complete with pumpkin carving competition.
