Caron Blowers

Clocking up over 25 years at our Porth shop, Caron has dedicated her time building and helping to develop a wonderful team of volunteers. Often hosting events in store and donning fancy dress to entice shoppers, she encourages fellow volunteers – old and new – to join in on the fun. Using her craft skills to make Christmas wreaths and other creations, Caron is always looking for extra ways to raise income and increase the presence of the shop on the high street.

Pat Edgley

A reliable volunteer at our Nantiwch shop, Pat turns up rain or shine and is responsible for closing the store four times a week. Pat’s excellent customer service skills sees her get the most gift aid sign ups, allowing us to claim an extra 25% on donations. A favourite among customers, Pat has regulars coming to see her latest creations which include beautifully knitted cardigans for babies. She is more than willing to go the extra mile for customers, making sure they leave happy.

Myrna Philpott

Myrna has volunteered at our Cardigan shop for over 20 years. Described as reliable, caring, friendly and competent, she is always eager to help around the shop and look after our customers. After the very sad passing of her son who had cancer, Myrna is extremely motivated to raise as much money as possible for other people affected. Her family are incredibly supportive and help with fundraising events. Last year, aged 88, Myrna took part in our Zipwire challenge raising over £800 for Tenovus Cancer Care.

All-Wales Cancer Community steering group

The steering group comprises six people who volunteer their time and knowledge to make the All-Wales Cancer Community the very best it can be. Bringing a breadth of expertise, experience, and talent to the initiative, the group often challenge us to look at things in a new light. In addition, many of the group are very active in the community, sharing their voices to support our policy and campaigning work as well as volunteering in other capacities including for our fundraising team and Tele-friend service.

Aysha Syeda

Aysha supports our Benefits Advice team to identify the support available to people with terminal cancer across Wales. Aysha was immediately helpful and inquisitive, making her own suggestions and challenging us to come up with other ideas. In just a short amount of time, Aysha developed a fantastic report that mapped services across Wales and compared how people can access them. This information will help us tackle inequality in service provision and better support our clients. 

Margaret Reardon

Margaret has been a volunteer at Abergavenny Sing with Us choir since 2015. She works tirelessly behind the scenes every week to ensure the smooth running of rehearsals and gigs for our choristers. The backbone of the choir, Margaret manages the register, financial duties, and arranges fundraising events. Described as driven, fun, compassionate and kind, Margaret regularly attends the choir’s gigs and is a great support to all the members.

Andrew Roberts

Andrew demonstrated his dedication to making a positive impact in his community with the remarkable achievement of raising £20,000 for Tenovus Cancer Care at a charity dinner and auction. The event was held in memory of his father Bernard - ‘Mold’ - who tragically passed away from cancer last year. Andrew channeled his grief into a force for good to host an incredible evening, in partnership with our Llandeilo Friends of Tenovus Cancer Care group, raising vital funds and awareness for people affected by cancer.

Jayne Lloyd

Marking her tenth year of supporting us, Jayne volunteers for our fundraising team as an events organiser for important challenges including marathons. With an understanding of what it takes to complete such challenges, Jayne’s knowledge and experience is a great support to those around her. Her warmth and enthusiasm encourages participants and volunteers to return year after year to take part and support the charity. In the last decade, Jayne and her team of volunteers has helped to raise a whopping £128,000 for Tenovus Cancer Care.

Team Bertie (Jean and Allan)

Great friends, Jean and Allan, came together in 2020 to form ‘Team Bertie’ – a supportive community of runners and fundraisers. Motivated by the impact cancer has had on their lives, including Jean’s own diagnosis, they have worked tirelessly to raise money and awareness for the cause. The dynamic duo has taken on a variety of challenges including London Marathon, Great North Run, and Berlin Marathon and raised over £16,000 and counting. Described as “legends”, the pair always find entertaining and creative ways to fundraise and inspire people all year round.

Brian Dudley (Creative)

Volunteer photographer, Brian, has embraced the creative value by using his skills to capture many special and memorable moments over the years. He’s attended a variety of events, often travelling miles, and dedicates his time and energy to support us. Producing engaging imagery is no mean feat, particularly in busy surroundings and with specific briefings, but Brian always delivers and does so politely and respectfully. His work has been used across our channels, inspiring people to support us and identify with the cause.

Llandeilo Friends of Tenvous Cancer Care (All values)

The Llandeilo Friends of Tenovus Cancer Care group represents our values in all the incredible work they do. They continuously raise funds and awareness for the charity - a cause close to their hearts – and have raised an astounding sum of more than £300,000 over the years. They’ve had a huge impact on the charity and in the community. Whether it’s organising events, reaching out to the community, or lending a helping hand - their willingness to go above and beyond is admirable.  

Janet Sutton (Supportive)

Janet embodies all the attributes of being a supportive member of the Tenovus Cancer Care community. Nominated for her volunteering at Llandudno Sing with Us choir and Llandundo Friends of Tenovus Cancer Care group, Janet works tirelessly behind the scenes in so many ways. This includes anything from welcoming new choir members and organising events to fundraising, awareness raising and managing finances. She will turn her hand to whatever is asked of her and does it all with a friendly smile.
