Our culture

A sense of community and looking after people has always been at the heart of our story. So, we don’t just feel proud and privileged to be able to make a real difference for people affected by cancer. The feeling you get with us is that we’re a really friendly and inclusive bunch of people who support each other in positive ways to do well too.

We work really hard every day and we love what we do. And, we also like to get together and have fun as well. We feel like being one of us is to be part of a ‘family’ we care about. We’re people who share the same values, we’re there for each other and we like being together.

Our values

We’re not one of those organisations whose values just exist on a bit of paper. We live our values every day and they’re integral to who we are and how we work.

We listen to the voices of people affected by cancer and respect everyone’s right to receive the best care, whoever they are, wherever they live.

We think and do things differently, but not just for the sake of it. We find creative, innovative solutions and we love to sing!

Being supportive is part of who we are. We support people with cancer and their loved ones, within their own communities.

We’re inspired by the people and communities we support and do our best to inspire others.

We’re not afraid to do things differently or find better ways of doing things. We’ll explore new opportunities and face new challenges to reach our goals.

Our values are really important to our staff. Our people are proud to live out our values through their motivation and passion for being part of things here:

I found out about Tenovus Cancer Care from a news piece on the choirs, a week later I joined my local choir. From there I volunteered and saw how passionate everyone was about the charity and the people it supports. Whilst volunteering a role came up, I applied and was successful in getting the job. I really enjoy working here and doing my own little bit to help cancer patients and their families

Charlotte, Research and Support Admin Manager

I loved being a shop volunteer when I was a teenager so the charity was always important to me. It made me want to make a difference to the lives of people affected by cancer. That meant so much more to me when my dad was diagnosed with cancer. Now I work here I feel really lucky to be able to help people and raise the vital funds for our services.

Carys, Regional Fundraising Manager

I first found out about Tenovus Cancer Care as a service user. From there I liked what I saw and got more involved as an events volunteer in the Fundraising team. The people did it for me and I loved the feel about the place. It was somewhere I wanted to belong and I was lucky enough to get a job here using my HR skills for a cause I felt passionate about. I haven’t looked back since and am proud to be able to make a difference as a member of staff.
