Hi, I’m Darren O’Connell, and I’m a Cancer Specialist Complaint Advocate working with Llais, funded by Tenovus Cancer Care.
If you or someone you care about has not had a good enough experience with cancer care - maybe things didn’t go as they should - I’m here to help.
My job is to support you through the complaints process, making sure your voice is heard, and your concerns are taken seriously.
Here’s what I can help with:
- Supporting you to raise concerns about NHS or social care services.
- Helping make complaints on behalf of someone else – even if they’ve sadly passed away.
- Listening with empathy and understanding.
- Explaining how the complaints process works and what your options are.
- Helping you write letters and get ready for meetings.
- Coming along to meetings with you for support.
- Offering tailored help if you’re facing extra challenges like language barriers, disabilities, or bereavement.
I’ve been working in advocacy for over 22 years, across health and social care and the criminal justice system. I’ve worked in prisons, mental health settings, and with people affected by domestic abuse – always making sure people’s voices are heard.
If you need someone in your corner, I’m here.
