Earlier this month, we celebrated the 40th anniversary of the wonderful Radyr and Morganstown Friends of Tenovus Cancer Care group. In true volunteering spirit, they were celebrated at a fundraising evening, with dinner and entertainment, at the historic Radyr Golf Club.

The group was founded in 1985 and not only have they given 40 years of commitment to the Charity, they have also raised an incredible £400,000 over the years. Huge gratitude was expressed to the founding members and recent Group Volunteer Award winners – Betty Fitzgerald and Marilyn Vaugn on the night. Between them, they have managed the group’s finances and continue to bring fresh and engaging ideas for raising much-needed funds.
The evening began with a rousing performance by the Cardiff North Sing with Us Choir and was hosted throughout by Kate Lewis, ITV presenter and Tenovus Cancer Care ambassador. The Chair of Tenovus Cancer Care, Tracey Burke OBE shared her personal connection with the Charity and Welsh Rugby Union legend, Rupert Moon entertained the room with his stories about growing up in Wales, along with a moving account of how he became involved with Tenovus Cancer Care.

Everyone was serenaded by Britain’s Got Talent semi-finalist and Cardiff’s own, Jamie Pugh and the night ended with a raffle, auction and touching slide show of just a few of the Radyr and Morganstown fundraising highlights from over the years.
