Do you have experience of acute myeloid leukaemia (AML)? The National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) would like to hear your thoughts on a clinical trial for a new AML treatment.

Eligibility

Adults (aged 18 or over) who live in the UK and have lived experience, as a patient or carer, of acute myeloid leukaemia (AML) or other acute leukaemias. Those taking part will need to be able to access and use Zoom to join a focus group and be happy to discuss their lived experience.

How long will it take? 2.5 hours
Will participants get paid? Yes - £67.50 for participation in the focus group

NIHR Patient Engagement in Clinical Development Service:

Do you have experience of acute myeloid leukaemia (AML)? The National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) would like to hear your thoughts on a trial for a new AML treatment.
 
The NIHR PECD Team will support you throughout this process and provide any information or guidance you may need.
 
What you will do

You will join an online focus group to discuss a new research study. In the meeting you will:

  • Tell the study team about the impact AML has on your life.
  • Listen to the company's plans for their upcoming research.
  • Share your thoughts and feedback on how to improve the trial.
  • The meeting will be hosted by the NIHR PECD Team, together with the company they are supporting.

Time involved

  • The meeting will take place on 19, 21 or 22 January 2026.
  • It will last 2.5 hours including a short break.
  • The time and date will be chosen based on public partner availability.

Payment

The NIHR value your time and expertise. You will receive a payment of £67.50 through bank transfer (This will be paid to a UK bank account in your name).
