Bevacizumab (you may know it from the trade name of Avastin) increases the effectiveness of chemotherapy in some patients with colorectal cancer. However, Bevacizumab can have side effects, and therefore it is important to work out who benefits from the drug.

The Centre for Trials Research has developed a simple blood test (Tie2), which they think can identify the patients who benefit from Bevacizumab, but they need to assess its value in a clinical trial that confirms their initial findings.

They would like to know your opinion on the design of a clinical trial, which would prove whether the test works and which patients it works for. If they can prove that the test works, this would make bevacizumab more cost-effective for the NHS and enable it to be used in a more targeted way.

The Centre for Trials Research at Cardiff University are asking patients and carers with experience with colorectal cancer to help with the design of a study. They would like to have your opinion as to whether the design of the study they are proposing will prove acceptable to patients by completing a short online survey:

VALTIVE-C Study Patients and Public View_Questionnaire – Fill out form

The form includes more details about the VALTIVE-C study, blood test, and treatment.
Reading the details and completing the online survey should not take longer than 15 mins.
You won’t receive payment.

They are extremely grateful for your opinion, which will help them design the study in the best way for patients.

Please feel free to contact the study team at VALTIVE-C@cardiff.ac.uk with any questions.
