Researchers at Cardiff University want to understand what it is like to move from children's to teenage and young adult (TYA) services for cancer treatment. They hope this will help services better understand what this move is like so that the move can be handled in the best way possible and families get the support they need.
They would like to speak directly to young people who have been through this move, as well as their parents/guardians. Taking part would involve two online conversations (via Microsoft Teams) with a researcher.
- In the first conversation (about 10 minutes), the researcher will take some brief details about your (or your child’s) condition, treatment, and where it took place etc.
- In the second conversation (about 60 minutes), the researcher will ask you questions about what it was like to move between children's and TYA cancer services, what went well, and what could have been done differently etc.
To take part, you must be either:
- A young person who has been a patient both of a children's cancer service and a teenage and young adult cancer service, whose care was moved between services in the past two years;
- The parent/guardian of a young person who has been a patient both of a children's cancer service and a teenage and young adult cancer service, whose care was moved between services in the past two years.
Young people will receive a £30 gift voucher as a thank you for taking part.
