Eligibility

The project is looking for anyone in the UK currently aged between 18-22 who received a cancer diagnosis before the age of 16.

Who is organising the research and why?

Jessica Lyamu- PhD student at University of Lincoln. This study aims to investigate the impact of paediatric cancer treatment on young adults’ cognitive ability, attitudes to learning and educational attainment. Jessica is looking to recruit participants currently aged between 18-22 years old for this pilot study who have previously received a cancer diagnosis of any tumour type, before the age of 16. Participation in this study will provide valuable information which could be used to understand how best to support children who have cancer whilst they are in education, as this is an area which is currently under-researched in the UK.

Who can take part?

Anyone in the UK currently aged between 18-22 who received a cancer diagnosis before the age of 16.

What does taking part involve?

Taking part in this study would involve completing a survey initially and then participating in a small focus group. The survey and focus group ask questions relating to your previous educational experiences and attainment as well as your cancer diagnosis and treatment. All tasks will be completed online.
