As part of the MSc Biomedical Sciences programme at Swansea University, a speaker is sought to share a lived experience of cervical cancer in a short talk (approximately 20–30 minutes) for a teaching session focused on cervical cancer cytology. This could include someone who has had cervical cancer themselves, a close family member of someone diagnosed, or a nurse or healthcare professional with direct experience of screening or diagnosing the condition.

The session can be delivered either in person at Swansea University or online. All travel expenses will be reimbursed.

This session aims to help students connect scientific knowledge with real-world experiences and gain a deeper understanding of the human impact of disease and treatment. It also contributes to ongoing research investigating whether including ‘lived experience’ in teaching improves assessment performance.

Speakers will be asked to give a 20–25-minute talk on their experience of cervical screening and diagnosis, followed by an optional Q&A session. This is a valuable opportunity to help educate and inspire future scientists, researchers, and healthcare professionals. They can learn from your experiences.
