I’m Gareth, and I joined Tenovus Cancer Care in November 2025 as Chief Executive Officer. It’s a real privilege to lead an organisation with such a powerful mission, a dedicated and passionate team, and a deep connection to the communities we serve.

I was born and brought up in South Wales, where I still live with my family. I’ve spent over 15 years working in leadership roles across health, social care, and the voluntary sector with the last 10 years of that championing the needs of unpaid carers. Most recently, I was Chief Executive of TuVida, a charity supporting unpaid carers and people with care needs across England and Wales and prior to that I led Carers Trust, the national charity for unpaid carers, where I helped establish the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Young Carers and secured Welsh Government investment for the national Short Breaks Fund which continues to make a difference today.

My connection to Tenovus Cancer Care is a personal one. My mum was supported by the charity during her breast cancer treatment 25 years ago, whilst also benefiting from the drug Tamoxifen, which Tenovus Cancer Care was instrumental in researching and developing during the 1970’s. This makes me determined to ensure Tenovus Cancer Care continues its long tradition of being here for everyone affected by cancer.

Outside of work, I spend a lot of time with friends and family, which usually involves food and the odd drink! I’m also active in my local community, running men’s mental health and sports groups and volunteering at my son’s school.
