Congratulations to our 2026 volunteer Awards winners

Earlier this week we gathered at the Parkgate Hotel in Cardiff for our 2026 Volunteer Awards. It was a chance to stop, celebrate, and say a proper thank you to the people who give their time to Tenovus Cancer Care.

Every year these awards remind us of something simple. Our volunteers are the heart of everything we do. This year's winners each reflect one of our core values, and every one of them is richly deserved.

Here are your 2026 winners.

Integrity - Jess Mason

Jess has turned her own experience of gynaecological cancer into a force for change. She has shared her story on BBC Radio 4's Woman's Hour, spoken at the Senedd, and helped push forward Claire's Campaign. Her openness has brought hope to thousands.

Collaborative - Claire Jones

Claire has a rare gift for bringing people together. Over the past year she led the Llandeilo Friends of Tenovus Cancer Care to raise more than £30,000, building real relationships with local schools, businesses and her community along the way.

Inclusive - Anna Baldos-Robinson

Anna makes sure everyone feels they belong. At our Nantwich shop she trains and coaches new volunteers, with a special focus on supporting those with additional learning needs. New starters always mention how warm her welcome is.

Supportive - Heulwen Wyatt

A former specialist nurse, Heulwen was diagnosed with oesophageal cancer in 2022. She now brings both her professional knowledge and her lived experience to talks for healthcare staff and to our advocacy work. As she puts it, she wants to use her story to empower others on a similar journey.

Group - Pembrey and Burry Port Friends of Tenovus Cancer Care

This group's creativity knows no bounds. Over the past year they have run race nights, pub quizzes, Christmas fairs, mediumship evenings and a Breast Cancer Awareness Month gala concert. They show what local community spirit can achieve.

Innovative - Margaret Marshall

Margaret has volunteered at our Haverfordwest shop for 14 years. Alongside her sister she creates one-of-a-kind knitwear, quilts, mastectomy pillows and recovery cushions, with every penny going to the shop. As a bowel cancer survivor, she brings real warmth and empathy to it all.

A huge congratulations to this year’s winners and group award recipients. Your dedication, passion, and the difference you make truly stood out.
