During her time volunteering at the Cardigan shop, 89-year-old Myrna has given more than 15,000 voluntary hours to the charity. A keen advocate of gift aid, Myrna regularly signs up new gift aiders to the shop, often achieving over a third of all new sign-ups each week. As well as being fiercely loyal, Myrna is caring, friendly, and incredibly competent; often taking new volunteers under her wing, to train and support. We estimate Myrna has supported over 60 ‘new’ volunteers during her time.
A licensed pilot and self-confessed daredevil, Myrna enjoys taking on challenges and recently completed a Zipwire challenge which raised over £900 for us and is busy planning her next fundraising challenge, which she feels should be outside of the aeroplane!
In addition to all of this, she also runs her own donation centre in her local community, encouraging friends, neighbours and family to donate their unwanted items. We estimate that Myra’s donation centre has helped the shop raise more than £28,000 through the sale of these goods over the years to support their charity’s frontline work.
