We are deeply saddened to hear of the death of Professor Tom Crosby OBE.
Tom made an enormous contribution to cancer care in Wales over many years, both as a clinician and through his national leadership of cancer services. He was a passionate champion of research and innovation, always looking for ways to improve care and outcomes for people affected by cancer.
For us at Tenovus Cancer Care, Tom was also a valued friend and supporter of the voluntary sector. He understood the contribution that charities and, most importantly, people with lived experience could make to improving cancer services, and he consistently treated us as genuine partners in that work.
His influence can be seen across cancer services in Wales today, from earlier diagnosis and improvements to cancer pathways to research and the development of more person-centred care.
Our thoughts are with Tom’s family, friends and colleagues at this incredibly sad time. We are grateful for everything he contributed to cancer care in Wales and beyond, and he will be greatly missed by all of us who had the privilege of working with him.
