Join Blood Cancer UK’s Research Involvement Network

If you have been personally affected by blood cancer — as a patient, carer, family member or friend, your experience can make a real difference to blood cancer research.

The Blood Cancer UK Research Involvement Network is a group of people with lived experience who help shape what research gets funded and how it’s done.

As a member of the Network, you could:
•    Review research funding applications and provide feedback
•    Join online focus groups or discussions with researchers
•    Help shape research questions and patient information materials
•    Represent lived experience at key decision-making points

You can choose how often you’d like to be involved — from occasional activities to more regular participation. Most opportunities are online and flexible.

Time commitment
Involvement varies depending on the activity. Some tasks may take 1–2 hours to review documents; focus groups or panel meetings may last 1–3 hours. You decide what works for you.

Payment and support
Blood Cancer UK follow national best practice guidance for public involvement in research. Payment is offered for your time, and will reimburse reasonable expenses, including travel, childcare, or online access costs. Training and support are provided — no scientific background is needed.

Who can apply?
Anyone living in Wales who has been affected by blood cancer (patients, carers, family members or close friends).
