Who can take part? People with experience of radiotherapy treatment for head and neck cancer in Wales – and/or carers of people with this experience.

Health Technology Wales (HTW) produces evidence-based reviews of health technologies to inform guidance on their use to the NHS in Wales. They are currently conducting a review on an alternative radiotherapy approach for head and neck cancer aimed at improving outcomes.
Online adaptive radiotherapy uses an approach where images of the tumour are taken either constantly throughout the treatment, or on the day of planned treatment, so that the treatment plan can be adapted if there have been any chances to the tumour size, or other changes that could impact the treatment, such as weight loss. The aim is to improve the treatment accuracy and lessen the exposure of healthy tissue.
HTW are looking to gather people's lived experiences with head and neck cancer and radiotherapy to better understand the potential impacts of adaptive radiotherapy. If you have experience with adaptive radiotherapy these will be gathered, but they would also like to know your thoughts and opinions on it, even if you haven’t had the opportunity to use it.
The experiences gathered will form part of HTW’s evidence review, which will be used to frame guidance on the use of adaptive radiotherapy in head and neck cancer for the whole of the NHS in Wales.
Tenovus Cancer Care are assisting HTW with their assessment by hosting an online focus group on 12 November 2026 6-7pm using Microsoft Teams.
