Who can take part? Adults aged 18 or over who live in the UK and have lived experience, as a patient or carer, of bowel cancer. Participants must be able to access and use an online video meeting platform, such as Zoom and be happy to discuss lived experiences in a group.

The National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) is working with the Center for Information and Study on Clinical Research Participation (CISCRP) to help them recruit participants for a focus group.
The focus group, held online and facilitated by CISCRP, will discuss a pharmaceutical company’s proposed trial in bowel cancer. This will help the company to design a study that is focused on the needs of the patient, their family, and their community.
If you are over 18 and have lived experience, as a patient, or carer, of bowel cancer, they would like to hear from you.
In particular, CISCRP are interested in speaking to people who are:
- From a UK ethnic minority, or
- Are aged over 60, or
- Have a lower level of formal education
The focus group will be discussing:
- Discuss general attitudes and understanding of clinical research.
- Motivations and barriers to taking part in research.
- Your thoughts and feedback on the planned research.
The time commitment for this work will be 2 hours for the session (to be scheduled in February 2026) for which you will be reimbursed £170 for your participation.
