The National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) is working with the Center for Information and Study on Clinical Research Participation (CISCRP) to help them recruit participants for a focus group.

The focus group, held online and facilitated by CISCRP, will discuss a pharmaceutical company’s proposed trial in bowel cancer. This will help the company to design a study that is focused on the needs of the patient, their family, and their community.

If you are over 18 and have lived experience, as a patient, or carer, of bowel cancer, they would like to hear from you.

In particular, CISCRP are interested in speaking to people who are:

  • From a UK ethnic minority, or
  • Are aged over 60, or
  • Have a lower level of formal education

The focus group will be discussing:

  • Discuss general attitudes and understanding of clinical research.
  • Motivations and barriers to taking part in research.
  • Your thoughts and feedback on the planned research.

The time commitment for this work will be 2 hours for the session (to be scheduled in February 2026) for which you will be reimbursed £170 for your participation.
