Brewing hope: Brains and Tenovus Cancer Care join forces

We are proud to announce that Brains Brewery has chosen us as their Charity of the Year for 2026. This partnership brings together two iconic Welsh names with a shared goal: supporting people affected by cancer across our communities.

The collaboration is starting with a serious challenge.

On 09 May, Nick Payne, Managing Director of Brains, will join our CEO, Gareth Howells, for 10 Y Fan. Most people find one hike up Pen y Fan enough for a weekend. Nick and Gareth are planning to reach the summit ten times in just 24 hours.

This is a massive physical test. Ten climbs is roughly equivalent to the height of Mount Everest. It requires resilience, grit, and a lot of determination.

Training is already underway. We joined Nick and Gareth on the mountainside recently for a practice run. They battled through rain, sleet, and even snow. It was a small taste of the conditions they might face during the real event next month.

Nick is leading from the front. By taking on 10 Y Fan, he is showing exactly why Brains chose to work with us.

In Wales, more than 1 in 10 people diagnosed with cancer turn to us for help. We provide practical support, nursing care, and a voice for those who need it most. The backing from Brains will help us continue this work on the ground in towns and cities across the country.

Gareth and Nick are now into the final weeks of preparation. They are trading the boardroom for walking boots and waterproofs to raise vital funds.

We are thrilled to have the Brains team on board for 2026. We wish Nick and Gareth the best of luck for 10 Y Fan. We will be cheering them on for every single one of those ten summits.
