Money and More Cymru is a new financial health and wellbeing service, funded by Macmillan Cancer Support and delivered by Tenovus Cancer Care in partnership with organisations across Wales

The service helps people affected by cancer access the welfare benefits, financial guidance and wider support they need, ensuring they receive the right help at the right time.

We’ve put together answers to some of the questions we’re most often asked about the service, including who can access support, what help is available and what happens after you get in touch. If you can’t find the answer you’re looking for, please get in touch with us and we’ll be happy to help.

For carers, health and social care professionals

The service can be accessed through our referral form which is available on our website, through this leaflet (embed the leaflet here) and via our Support Line number 0808 8081010

The referral form asks for the details of the person to be referred and for some information on the health concerns and treatment received, if any, as well as any supportive documentation you may have. This should be sent to us at this email address refertous@tenovuscancercare.org.uk.

All referrals and other contact will receive an email reply acknowledging receipt and that it will be dealt with as soon as possible.

Tenovus Cancer Care has a long history of delivering advice and wider services to those affected by cancer. Our Money & More Cymru service is accredited with the Advice Quality Mark acknowledging the high standard of our work. We deliver a holistic approach to all clients ensuring that all needs are addressed even where referrals may be needed to external organisations.

All referrals will come directly to Tenovus Cancer Care, where each person will receive an initial assessment (triage) by a specialist adviser. This allows us to identify the full range of their needs and provide immediate information, guidance and support wherever possible. Some advice can be given at this stage or clients empowered to use resource packs to access support. Other, more complex advice will be delivered either by Tenovus Cancer Care or by one of our delivery partners across Wales. We will be in touch with the clients referred to us as soon as possible to conduct an initial assessment and then deliver the support in the best way for the individual needs.

The service is designed to support those most in need and as part of the initial assessment consideration will be made of the clients needs. Our expert triage advisors will explore the range of needs and focus specialist casework on those who have additional barriers that make this the most effective means to support them. The definition of those most in need includes but is not limited to; those with a terminal diagnosis, those with co morbidities, those in hard-to-reach groups who do not often access advice and those with learning difficulties.

For individuals

Money and More Cymru is a way for you to understand and access welfare benefits, practical help and other support you may be entitled to.  Depending on your needs, this could range from giving you a package of advice and information, through to support with form filling, making benefit applications and help to follow up claims.

We are here to help. You can call Tenovus Cancer Care’s Support Line on 0808 808 1010 or pop your details on the form here.

You will receive a call from one of our advisors who will chat with you about your health and current circumstances to be able to identify how best we can help you. Following this we will advise you of the best course of action.

The more information you are happy to give our experienced advisors about your circumstances, the more detail we can give you about the payments, support or benefits you might be able to access.

We will discuss any specific worries or challenges you are facing and help to find ways of meeting your needs – sometimes that is through a grant or one off payment, and sometimes its by checking you are not missing out on special tariffs, welfare benefits or other sources of help.

The reply would be that there are Money and More services all over the UK and anyone can access the one local to where they live;  Macmillan Money & More Service - National - Cancer Care Map.
